Make day hikes to the high peaks of Dix, Big Slide, Wolfjaws, Gothics.or the NY state highest--Mt. Marcy. Enjoy the fresh air and the scenery in the high mountains. Meeting Time/Place: Contact Leaders for details Leaders: George Li/Chung Leung/Mandy Wong Saturday 9/6/2008 - 7 Mile Day Hike / Level B Lake Askoti North, Harriman State Park, NY Start from Long Path Blue, pass Bowling Rock and climb up to Black Rock Mountain. Lunch at shelter, then return on R-D Red across the Blue Lichen to A-SB Red to Lake Askoti. Meeting Time/Place: 8:00 AM at 39th Street & Broadway, Manhattan Leaders: Rwei Su/Leo Ngan Sunday 9/7/2008 - 10-12 Mile Day Hike / Level D Lake Askoti North, Harriman State Park, NY Start from Ramapo-Dunderberg (R) North, passing 7 Lake Drive to Wm Brien Memorial Shelter. Change to Menomine (Y) to Silvermine Lake then to LP. Follow LP South to Lemon Squeezer and return to Lake Askoti. Meeting Time/Place: 8:00 AM at 39th Street & Broadway, Manhattan Leaders: Chung Leung/Zhaoming Li Saturday 9/13/2008 - Overnight Backpacking /Moon Watching Harriman State Park Leave on Saturday afternoon, hike 2 mile up to the top of the mountain. Have dinner, moon watch and camp overnight. Bring your own food and camping equipments. Contact leaders for further information. Register before 9/8/08. Meeting Time/Place: Contact Leaders for details Leaders: Nancy Liang/Kelly Ko Saturday 9/13/2008 - 6 Mile Day Hike . Level B Three Reservoirs at Harriman State Park, NY Climb up Jackie Jones Mountain in the first mile. Enjoy the easy downhill slope and 2 mile of leisure walk visiting 3 reservoirs. Part of the trip will be on unmarked trail, so hikers must follow leaders Meeting Time/Place: 8:00 AM at 39th Street & Broadway, Manhattan Leaders: Alex Wei/Bounla Sayarath (Bobo) Saturday 9/20/2008 - 6 Mile Day Hike / Level B Hook Mountain State Park, NY Visit Hook Mtn. State Park of upstate New York. Climb to the ridge and overlook the Hudson River. Walk back along the flat bike path. Meeting Time/Place: 8:00 AM at 39th Street & Broadway, Manhattan Leaders: MeiSheng Liu/Grace Chang Saturday 9/27/2008 - Semi-annual Trail Maintenance (Shore Path) / Level B Palisades Interstate Park, NY/NJ Trail maintenance on the Shore Path trail along the Hudson River in New Jersey; pick up trash, trim protruding branches, etc. Tools will be provided by trip leaders. Light refreshments will be offered at the end of activity. This is a very important event for the club as it.s our duty to serve our community and conserve the nature for the future.
